Is my package covered?

We now offer ROUTE Insurance.  It is up to the customer to select this option at checkout to protect against lost, damaged or stolen shipments.  We will not be liable, you must purchase Route to insurance your shipment.  A full breakdown can be found clicking here.

What carriers do you use?

We ship everything via UPS.

Updates as of September 2022.

We have had to increase all of our shipping rates as of this year due to the continued increase costs to send shipments.  For some context, please keep in mind that on the average 20 lb shipment it costs us $40-$50 to ship it via UPS Ground.  This is not an exaggeration or hyperbole.  That is a huge chunk of money, which is why we ask for a partial payment based on how much you spend.

Our costs:

UPS Freight $20-$30

Dry Ice $10

Box & Cooler $10

Labor - Unknown, I do it all myself as the owner of the company.

Shipping Costs*

*updated February 15th 2022

If you live in any of the qualifying states that will allow for UPS Ground shipping then it is based on your cart total

  • $34 Flat Fee up to $199
  • $21 Flat Fee from $200 to $499
  • FREE SHIPPING for any order over $500.

Qualifying states are, all states East of and including Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, but excluding Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts (sorry guys).  Any state West of those or the 4 in the NE corner then we must use Air shipping and charged accordingly.  Any of those states or a qualifying state East of those will qualify for $34 flat rate up to $200 ordered, or $21 Flat Rate for orders up to $400 and then FREE SHIPPING over $500.

For Orders in the qualifying area, a flat $21 fee is being charged to help cover freight, dry ice, cooler and box expenses.  We had to adjust the Free Shipping model because the costs were still too high for us to absorb everything.

NOTE: Not Included in Free Shipping

  • Pet Blend (excluding the 2 lb and 10 lb options)
  • 101 lb Pack
  • Wagyu Brisket
  • 50 lb Ground Beef (Grass Fed or Wagyu)
  • Any purchase of a Beef or Pork Share

Why don’t you offer free shipping or flat rate shipping everywhere?

Unlike large meat companies, we actually raise, harvest and package what we sell and ship it from our farm in Chipley, FL. We can reach most of the eastern U.S. with affordable UPS ground shipping, but for orders out West will require a shipping upgrade to 3 day select or 2nd day air. It is extremely expensive to ship anything in the air.  Considering how small of a farm we are these upgrades are very expensive for and we simply cannot afford to absorb those costs.

If we used a Flat Rate shipping price, we would overcharge customers living near us and under charge customers living on out West, or we would have to make up the difference by raising our product prices. We do not believe that is fair to anybody.

We recognize how expensive it is to ship out West and so we are continually happy and grateful for all of our customers that continue to support us that live in those states.  Thank you.

How do you calculate the shipping costs?

Our shipping and packaging are straightforward. When you checkout your zip code and total package weight will determine your costs. We have already plugged in all locations and weights into UPS and then generated shipping costs based on our cooler sizes.  We ship using 10 lbs, 20 lbs and 40 lbs cooler sizes. This means your cost is based on filling one of those coolers for your location. In other words, 11 lbs will cost the same as 20 lbs because UPS calculates on box dimensions.

Just know that you are never paying the entire costs, which include: UPS freight, LoBoy Cooler, dry ice and a box and labor.  Even for our distant customers we are absorbing some of the shipping costs. It’s a team effort!

When do you ship?

We ship every Monday, some major holiday weeks excepting.  We only ship on Mondays to ensure that your beef reaches you frozen solid, and does not sit thawing over a weekend or a holiday. On some holiday weeks we have to limit our shipping because we don’t want coolers sitting in the UPS warehouse.

What’s the shipping cutoff?

Typically speaking any orders placed up to Sunday night will make it out that Monday evening.

Where do you ship?

We ship to all continental 48 states. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii please contact me to see if we can make it happen and get you custom quote!

How can I enter a delayed delivery date?

Put your preferred Monday delivery date in the comments section of your order.

Will I receive a tracking number with my order?

You will receive two emails from us. The first confirmation will be sent upon completion of your order and will detail your purchase. You will receive a second confirmation e-mail at the time that your order is shipped via UPS, which will provide you with a tracking number and shipping information.

If you have not received either of these emails, first check your spam folder in your email program. If you still can’t find the information, send us an email at info@arrowheadbeef.com, and we’ll get you the information.

Do you ship fresh or frozen?

We only ship frozen products. We personally cut, vacuum pack and immediately freeze all of our beef and pork.  Small farms simply don’t have the logistics to sell fresh beef. We do believe that the quality of the meat has more to do with the genetics, lifestyle, breed, grass and happiness of the cows much more than if it’s ever been frozen.   And we do all of those really, really well.

How do you ship frozen beef through the mail?

To ensure that the beef arrives at your home still frozen, we package it in Loboy Styrofoam cooler with several pounds of dry ice. I have personally shipped hundreds of orders and have damn near perfected our shipping system. Open your box with care, as there may still be dry ice in the box, and it can freeze skin on contact!

The only time we have an issue is if you give us the wrong address or my fingers get confused and type it in wrong.  I’ve only done it once so far!

How is my meat packaged?

Unlike those big guys, everything is done by us. Actually it’s done by me, Tony.  There is no fulfillment. It’s just me , wearing all the clothes I own, standing in a 0 degree freezer and personally picking every item that goes into your box.  I check for the weight and product, verify the piece is what you ordered and looks perfect. I fill your box, double check the items and then add the dry ice, seal the box and label it.  Then I drive them all to UPS on Monday evening. If anything is wrong, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

What if there isn’t any dry ice in the cooler?

All shipments are sent in LoBoy Styrofoam insulated coolers with dry ice. It is possible and quite common to have no dry ice remaining in the insulated cooler when your meats arrive. If this is the case you need not be concerned.

As long as the product feels cold to the touch, the quality has not diminished. You may refreeze the product for up to 1 year if the product remains in the original Cryovak packaging. Or refrigerate the product for serving within 7 days.

An item is missing from my shipment.

I will at my discretion replace out of stock items with other products.  I will do everything in my power to only substitute products of equal quality, weight and value.  If too many items are out of stock or I don’t feel that what I can substitute will make you as happy as your original request I will refund those items.  That will show up on your credit card in a few days to a week.

Because I pack orders late on Monday so they can be dropped off that evening, it is very difficult to call you to check if you want a replacement.  If you receive something and are truly unhappy with the replacement, let me know. I’ll give you a refund for that item and you can keep the replacement.

 Why, didn't my order ship?

There could be a few reasons...

First, we may have run out of dry ice.  This happens on occasion and orders are processed in the order they are received.

Second, we may be missing an item in inventory that will be available the following week.

Third, your order is too small and wouldn't make the trip.  It is best to order at least 5 lbs of product, although sometimes 3 lbs is sufficient.  Things like liver and bacon, by themselves, won't survive transit.  Remember, the more meat in a cooler the large "thermal sink" to hold a cold temperature.

Also, the time of year and the geographic destination play a part.  I don't want to risk something I think won't survive the trip.

Rest assured your order hasn't been forgotten!!  I usually send an email within 24 hours (if not immediately) to inform you of the predicament.

If you get upset for any of these reasons...then this isn't the farm for you :)  I am only one person over here and sometimes things just don't go perfectly.

Do you accept returns?

No. We are not allowed to receive returned meat per the laws of the USDA.  If you have any issues with what you received please contact us info@arrowheadbeef.com
